As school bags grow heavier, parents are concerned about how much weight their children are being asked to carry.

Chiropractor Joshua Nelson said questions about the ideal backpack weight were something he heard often from parents.

"One person could be strong, yet the other person may not have that physical strength ... it's important for parents to be aware and to look at what they're packing," she said.Ms Haynes said studies showed it made no difference if the bag was carried using one strap or two."We don't get too hung up on it as long as the weight of it is controlled to some extent.

Yes, I used to carry massive text books when I was in primary school which had given me uneven shoulders in adulthood. With the invent of new technology, hopefully this will change the need to lug around so much in children’s bags.

Well seeing our kids pulling their bags with wheels on the bottom I guess it’s ted heavy? 🧐

In San Antonio, a few weeks ago, we had a little girl who lost control of her bike and fell into traffic. She was killed. Police suspect her heavy backpack overbalanced her.

. . . symbolically as well as actually weighing kids down with useless junk. They need nothing more than what they wish to carry.

Yep it's too heavy for my year 7 kids

As a teenager I found my school bag to be far too heavy, even after growing up being used to heavy lifting. In the end, I opted to carry a laptop, so I can't imagine the strain that is being put on the backs of those younger than I was
