Reformist Masoud Pezeshkian will face conservative Saeed Jalili in a runoff election to become Iran 's next president.The election will take place this coming Friday, with Pezeshkian facing an uphill battle to defeat a unified conservative bloc.
There's been only one run-off presidential election in Iran's history: in 2005, when Ahmadinejad bested former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. Mir Hossein Mousavi, one of the leaders of the 2009 Green Movement protests who remains under house arrest, refused to vote along with his wife, his daughter said.
