Investigators have cleared the Calabasas hillside of the helicopter debris from the crash that killed Kobe Bryant, but also revealed some terrifying speculation about the final moments of the doomed flight.

clouds, fog and limited visibility reported in the area on Sunday were a key focus of the investigationThe helicopter was not equipped with any kind of"terrain awareness and warning system," a device that might have alerted the pilot that the aircraft was dangerously close to the hillside, nor did the chopper carry a"black box" flight data recorder, which would make it easier to piece together the cause of the crash, she said.

Kobe Bryant's NBA career with the LA Lakers was great. His influence and legacy in the game of basketball was even greater. NTSB recommendations that both devices be required equipment on helicopters like the one that crashed on Sunday have not been implemented by the Federal Aviation Administration. Ms Homendy briefed reporters as authorities completed the on-scene phase of the investigation, clearing the tall, grassy slope of remaining wreckage and human remains.Among items recovered were an iPad that investigators hope may have belonged to the pilot for use in tracking flight and weather information, Ms Homendy said.

The NTSB team carted away a truckload of debris wrapped in large, white tarp bags while medical examiners positively identified remains of four victims, including Bryant and the pilot.

Patriarchal helicopter

For a luxury passanger helicopter, it seems to be awfully short on features you'd think would be standard... Like a black box

? murder suicide?

Amazing how an iPad miraculously survived survived the crash. And convenient, just like all the other anomalies in this case. Kind of like how that passport conveniently survived 9/11.
