ANALYSIS: Inside the public service shakeup: what it really says about Morrison's Government

Now, there are references to the development of policy in his words. But the clear message was really about improving the way services are delivered to the public.

Scott Morrison has spent the week defending the indefensible behaviour of his minister. So much political capital expended and so little return, writes Laura Tingle. If these new changes mean even less policy flows out of the public service, what hope have we of knowing who is making the decisions, and on what rationale, in areas that the Government doesn't feel like talking about or prioritising, like the arts? It is hard to see any discussion coming up in Estimates, for starters.

Incompetent, evasive, quickly running out of funding, deceptive, capricious, delusions of being on top of governance, out of touch with the varied collective subconscious of many parts of society officous, undynamic, spiteful, predictable, And last but most obvious SCARED

Simple answer to the ignorance of accountability is the reintroduction of media ownership laws.

'Public servants are now supposed to be the facilitators of policy rather than its authors, but, in fact, particularly under Coalition governments, they have often become little more than post boxes for the outsourcing of contracts to the private sector.'

Morrison swings axe through public serviceThe prime minister is slashing the number of government departments from 18 to 14 to 'bust bureaucratic congestion'. AusPol 9News There is too much red tape. It’s ridiculous navigating some departments. We all know this is a distraction from all the other monkey business he has been up to, not showing himself as a good leader just showing he has a poisonous agenda of trying to prove otherwise. Gladys Liu is a joke, and she's asking for her donation money back, claiming it's a loan. Yes, it is a loan (actually, it's a bribe) from the CCP, and she doesn't really need to pay back.

The overhauled public service may be more efficient, but at what cost to good government? The Prime Minister's overhaul is no mere reshuffle — it may be the most significant change to the government's structure in more than 30 years. It’s too little. More departments should go. And qangoes. More efficient or just lower cost? Having once again had the task of policy coordination in a mega department, can say policy silos remain
