The rationale behind the NSW government's decision to fast-track three dams and two other water infrastructure projects will be examined in an upper house parliamentary inquiry, following concerns about how those projects were marked as priorities.

, but with the interests of corporate irrigators front of mind. Tamworth mayor Colin Murray, whose town stands to benefit from the new Dungowan Dam, said there was not yet any guarantee about how much additional water would be available for the town.

"There are growing concerns that these projects won’t deliver enough water to where it’s needed the most to justify the costs or the impacts on rivers, wetlands and downstream communities," Ms Faehrmann said. "This inquiry will have the powers to ensure everything is on the table, including business case assumptions and contracts behind all projects.

HatAlexander Obviously they're being fast tracked to make the wealthiest on Earth more wealthy. That is what politicians do.

HatAlexander Dams kill riverine ecosystems because money and power steal all the water. Rivers become solely irrigation channels. We know both major political parties are bought and paid for. Taxpayers will build the dams to be later drained by agribusiness.
