An inquest into the 1973 firebombing of Brisbane's Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub has heard allegations the venue's manager knew it would be attacked but only told a select few people.

Fifteen people died in the firebombing at the Fortitude Valley nightclub on March 8 in 1973. Manager John Bell was unscathed. Today Martin Turpin told the inquest that years after the attack he had a conversation with a friend who had been there on the night.Today Martin Turpin told the inquest that years after the attack he had a conversation with a friend who had been there on the night."The car carrying John Bell pulled up and said, 'Greg, whatever you do, don't go in there tonight,'" Mr Turpin said.

"Greg was very, very shocked the next day, to learn what had happened... that those poor people perished."Mr Turpin's evidence concluded the first two weeks of the inquest, which will now take a break.The inquest has previously heard other people may also have been involved. When it resumes, possibly not until next year, more new information may have come to light, with more witnesses coming forward since the inquest has been underway.
