Government to invest $18 billion in five major technologies to cut emissions | Sky News AustraliaThe government has revealed a list of five new and emerging technologies it is planning to invest in as part of a roadmap to bring down emissions. \n\nThrough to 2030, the government said it would invest $18 billion in a bid to unlock further investment for the private sector totalling around $50 billion, and hoped to wipe out 250 million tonnes of emissions by 2040. \n\nThe five major investments included clean hydrogen, energy storage, green steel and aluminium, carbon capture and storage, and soil carbon projects\n\nEnergy Minister Angus Taylor was set to announce the map at the National Press Club later on Tuesday, where he was expected to say “Let’s be clear – there are only two ways to reduce missions”. \n\n“You either suppress emissions intensive economic activities, usually through some version of taxation – or you improve them. There is no third way,” he will say. \n\n“Australia can’t and shouldn’t damage its economy to reduce emissions.” \n\nThe move comes nearly a week after the Morrison government revealed it would broaden the remit of its key energy investment agencies and focus on low emissions technology in a shift away from funding solely wind and solar projects. \n\nThe government did not mention nuclear energy, which was deemed third stage interest. \n\n A NIGHTMARE COAL, GAS, DIESEL, BULLSHIT AND SPIN !!

Victorian government won't fine 'illegal activity, but raided pregnant woman's house' | Sky News AustraliaThe Victorian government is showing double standards by choosing not to administer fines for illegal activity which is spreading COVID but raiding the house of a pregnant lady for allegedly inciting a protest, says Sky News host Paul Murray.\n\nThose breaking lockdown rules are to blame for a coronavirus cluster emerging in Melbourne’s southeast. \n\nThe cluster has grown to 34 cases since September 2 and has spread across five different households in the Casey government area. \n\nIt’s believed the virus was spread from people within the households illegally leaving their five kilometre radius and visiting other households.\n\n“But guess what, no one is being fined in this family,' Mr Murray said. \n\n“No one is being fined in this family for doing the wrong thing, for spreading things around between houses.\n\n“They raided the house of the pregnant lady.\n\n“You’ve seen the people who have literally had their heads stomped on when they escaped from a mental health facility. At least Victorians are seeing what a 'fascist, left-wing government looks like' | Sky News AustraliaFormer Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger says Victoria, with its lockdowns and restrictions, is “seeing what fascism looks like”.\n\n It comes as the Andrews government is expected to introduce sweeping new powers for public servants, giving them the authority of authorised officers with the ability to indefinitely detain Victorians. \n\nThe bill, which will last until April 2021, gives officers the power to detain people whom they perceive to be a high-risk person (either with COVID-19 or a close contact) and who refuses to comply with health directives.\n\n“You have no freedom of movement after 9 pm now, and between 5 am, so your freedom is restricted,” Mr Kroger told Sky News host Paul Murray.\n\n“Movement is restricted to 5k from your house.\n\n“You’re restricted in who you can visit. You can’t practice your religion. You can only go to funerals in certain numbers.\n\n“People are being arrested in their homes. Pregnant women are arrested in their homes for incitement. You can’t practice free speech.\n\n“And now, you are having people who are not police officers being given the power to arrest people.\n\n“This is a shocking state of affairs in Victoria.\n\n“And now people are seeing what it’s like to have a really fascist left-wing government, and that’s what we have in Victoria, quite frankly.”\n Lol you’re seriously wheeling out Kroger? 😂😂😂 Is it really? Fascists seized power violently in Spain & Italy. Hitler tried that route in Germany, failed & then won an election. All three countries suspended human rights & placed people in arbitrary detention & killed many. Germany killed millions. Dumb comparison.

Government to consider wage incentives to aid economic recovery | Sky News AustraliaSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says it is his understanding that the wage incentive the government is considering won’t be an ongoing subsidy or the centrepiece of the budget.\n\nThis comes as The Australian reported that the prime minister will consider an incentive for businesses to take on extra workers to boost the nation’s economic recovery.\n\n“It might come in the form of a one-off payment for employers who hire people for example,” Mr Clennell said.\n\n“We know states like New South Wales have tried this before by giving businesses a payroll tax holiday for taking on new staff.\n\n“Speculation in the Financial Review too that $10 billion of infrastructure might be brought forward. \n\n'This is in addition to the federal government’s $100 billion infrastructure program over 10 years. \n\n“The NSW government is spending $104 billion over four years and has just brought $3 billion forward. So more than $10 billion is likely required to have any effect.”\n\nThe federal budget will be announced on October 6.\n
