Shadow Industry Minister Ed Husic says Labor is looking forward to meeting with industry leaders to get a sense of how increased funding could help boost the local supply of rapid antigen tests.

It comes as RAT manufacturers have made a pitch to roll out millions of tests every week if they are given a $20 million leg-up.

Mr Husic told Sky News Australia Labor’s National Reconstruction Fund has a specific focus on medical manufacturing, and if elected, the party will work with industry to ensure supply issues are overcome. “We need to be able to learn the mistakes of this pandemic and ensure that people can get what they need when they need them,” he said.
