While much of India is on a downward trend with COVID-19 cases, the nation's capital is buckling under a sharp rise. Now doctors are warning this latest wave includes patients experiencing symptoms more severe than they have seen previously.

Even as coronavirus infections begin to ease in Delhi, doctors are warning that this latest wave of COVID-19 in the city has been far deadlier than before and young people have been among the worst hit.

Dr Farah Husain says there has been a surprising rise in the severity of cases among some age groups. — a phenomenon that occurs every year in the city — and families came together for Hindu festivals, including Diwali.
