NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner says critical comments made by anti-corruption boss Ken Fleming about a whistleblower were "unwise" given an active investigation is underway regarding concerns about a conflict-of-interest matter within the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption office.

"There was some jealousy in the office, so some people were saying that they weren't getting the investigation work," he said. "This behaviour demonstrates utter contempt for his own office and it appears he has clearly forgotten his own mission statement and ICAC values," Mr McCue said in a press release last Friday.

"I have confidence in the ICAC, the commissioner and the process, which includes the independent investigator," Mr Gunner said.
