OPINION: I sick of the same circular climate change discussion. This is what I'm doing instead

As climate protests grew louder in 2019, I found myself yearning for a mass movement not of defiance but of sacrifice.

To come to the realisation that the lifestyle they've become accustomed to — through no fault of their own — is no longer sustainable. It also allows for people's differing economic and life circumstances. We're going to re-examine all aspects of our lives: from diet and purchasing habits, to leisure activities and super investments. There will be no gimmicky"my year without …" abstinence. Each commitment will be something we're willing to do forever from that point on.

We're also aiming to eliminate our standby power use. Simple things: switching the TV off at the wall, turning the wi-fi off overnight, etc. Using electricity more mindfully.

Greta Thunberg and David Attenborough unite to call for climate change actionTwo titan climate campaigners, Greta Thunberg and Sir David Attenborough, join forces to push politicians and businesses to step up action on climate change. Get back to us what they can stop cosmic rays and jump-start the sunspots. *THAT* is what drives the climate, not humans and an utterly insignificant trace gas. smfh A lot of us have been calling for climate action. Billions and Billions of dollars spent every year on 'Climate Change' just to continue to be told we are going to die in X amount of years regardless. I'm all for taking care of the planet, but 'Climate Change' is a scare tactic and money maker. That is all.

'Absolutist Greenies want to live in a climate change fairytale' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Smith says “absolutist Greenies” want to live in a “climate change fairytale,” and don’t accept the economic realities of energy demand in the world. \n\nMr Smith said it was “fair” to accuse big businesses in Australia of “pandering to the Green elites and the politically correct brigade,” in an attempt to garner public support. \n\nMr Smith also applauded recent statements made by retiring BP CEO Bob Dudley who said renewables wouldn’t be able to replace fossil fuels in the foreseeable future. \n\nThe Sky host said Mr Dudley was just “telling it as it is”. \n\n“Until we have a massive technological breakthrough in battery storage, renewables cannot compete with coal or gas,” Mr Smith said. \n\n“It's time the climate moralists accepted these realities”. \n\nImage: Getty Just build a fucking nuclear power plant and be done with it already. How many times do you ha e to smash your head against a wall to even get close to chrissmithonair level of journalistic ability? They should all go and live in the centre of the Amazon forest with a primitive lifestyle and avoid all contact with the rest of society and technology. A true utopia for their cult
