Family members tell a coronial inquest examining the deaths of three Indigenous women in the north-western Queensland town of Doomadgee that 'systematic, ingrained racism' was a contributing factor.

A coronial inquest examining the deaths of three Indigenous women in the north-western Queensland town of Doomadgee has begun its next stage in Cairns today, with family members saying "systematic, ingrained racism" was a contributing factor.Family members of one of the women said she regularly took her medication before becoming ill

The three young women, whose families requested they be referred to as Kaya, Ms Sandy and Betty, died in 2019 and 2020 from complications associated with Rheumatic Heart Disease .ABC Four Corners program revealed the women died after being sent away from the Doomadgee Hospital. Kaya's mother, Weenie George described the years her daughter lived with RHD, and the painful injections she endured.

He said when he spoke to Kaya in June 2020, after she had visited her boyfriend in the NT, he could tell something was wrong. He said after being discharged from Alice Springs Hospital, Kaya was taken to a clinic in Doomadgee.Mr Doomadgee became choked up and wept while describing the following weeks where he said he had to fight for Kaya to be transported to Mt Isa, Townsville and then Brisbane hospitals, where she underwent several surgeries but never recovered.

"It's systemic, ingrained racism that our country is built on … white people are the authority figures in the community," he said.

ABC = divisive & racist!

I wonder if he has any idea about how much indigenous training, education and awareness goes on in QLD Health every single day? Every meeting, every document, every bit of material, literally everything.

Rubbish!

'systematic racism' = maximum compo payout

Wild allegation of racism with no evidence & is incredibly divisive is amplified by our public broadcaster. Good job ABC Race Baiting Unit.

Why would anybody want to provide health services in these remote communities when this is what you get accused of.

Why have non-indigenous people chosen to live here since 1788 if they hate us so?

I believe there is an Ap you can download that detects systemic racism. It only has one setting.

How many hospitals and qualified surgeons were there before the British conquest of Australia?

Why is the ABC inciting racist divisiveness when this is obviously a health issue. ABC ignore the facts so they can ejaculate their poisonous bile over everyone.

Life's so much easier without self accountability.🙄🤦‍♂️

Yet first nation people's still sing the national anthem, the song of the white man.

'he was sure systemic racism played a part' Oh, well, if he 'just reckons'...

Systemic apathy clearly prevented development beyond the Stone Age.

Might as well have said a ghost did it.
