Australian three-time Olympic equestrian medallist Shane Rose has vowed to get back on his horse after a horror fall from the saddle during training left him in intensive care with multiple broken bones.

An Australian Olympic equestrian medallist has vowed to get back on the horse for the Olympic Games in Paris after a horror fall left him in the ICU.

He was put into intensive care and could only recall faintly riding the horses in the morning of the dreadful accident which threatens his prospects of competing in France in late July. “Apparently I rode four of my more experienced horses and I have no recollection of jumping any of them or how it happened,” he said. One of the horses he was riding, named Bandit, is believed to have hit a jump pole and had fallen onto him.“One of the girls looked in that direction and saw the horse coming back and the horse was fine,” she said.

On the upside, Rose said he did not fear riding again because he had no recollection of the moment that would have left him traumatised. Rose apologised for causing offence and claimed on Channel Nine’s A Current Affair on Monday night the stunt was intended"to have a bit of fun".
