The scenes of hundreds of people gathered at a park at Bondi Beach yesterday were "absolutely frustrating," says the Mayor of Waverley Council, as NSW Police confirm no fines were issued.
Mayor Paula Masselos said while the majority of the community were doing the right thing, there was a core of people who thought the rules did not apply to them."I'm certainly exasperated … It is really frustrating that there is a small group of people that is imperilling our community," she said.Police said they attended the beach on Friday evening, along with local council rangers, after reports crowd numbers were increasing, and were able to "disperse the crowd".

Perspective: The 'small group of people who are imperiling our community' (overly dramatic language) are not these people gathering outside their homes, they are those who are still refusing to get vaccinated.
There should never have been a regime to lock up the young and healthy and low-risk population. Targeted protection of the elderly and the particularly vulnerable would have been the sane and moral thing to do.
