Generative AI has caused a storm by automating high-paying professional skills. Now Aussie businesses are trying to determine how to get the best out of it.

from the use of services such as ChatGPT caused a stir among many professionals who spend a lot of time compiling reports and presentations from data they do little to derive themselves.Bill Gates says people will be surprised at how good generative AI is, and anticipates big potential benefits for health and education, particularly in poorer countries.

“It’s not like we have too many doctors, particularly in poor countries. It’s not like we have too many excellent tutors, particularly in poor countries.“And so tech companies but also philanthropies like Gates Foundation will be shaping this so that people who never get to see a doctor have good medical advice.”

He runs two companies, a corporate training provider called Imbue Group and an employee career development and outplacement service called Career Direction Australia. ChatGPT has proven “remarkably good and scarily accurate,” he says, particularly when he has asked it for assistance with writing a business plan and compiling material for short courses.

“I don’t agree that AI won’t replace jobs. For my business, I had two editors working for me, and I genuinely don’t need their services any more in this area. I am curious to see what comes next, and once AI starts producing video, I suspect this will be another thing I would look to cut back on.
