The redevelopment has a current revised practical completion date of May 2, 2023 but that could possibly be set back again if the project encounters further delays due to weather, supply issues and how the pandemic progresses.
"The redevelopment of the North Sydney Olympic Pool, like all construction work across metropolitan Sydney, has experienced disruption and delays due to the recent extreme weather events and the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 which has caused significant supply chain issues across the construction industry," they said.
"Additionally, the project has been impacted by a number of latent conditions on the site that were unknown prior to the 50m pool shell being removed, and additional strengthening works for the heritage structures on the site has been required. These were comprised of 38 days for hazardous material removal, additional strengthening works and other issues at project start, 46 days for inclement weather, 22 days to take into account an industry wide COVID-19 shutdown, inefficiencies caused by COVID-19 and a positive case on site and six days for other delays.
