After going about her day with no symptoms, Ms Dent noticed her watch was still showing that her heart rate was elevated — so she asked her son for advice. A treating doctor told her that if the flutter had continued for more than 48 hours, it could have led to a stroke. While some people experience symptoms of shortness of breath, fatigue, palpitations, and dizziness, other people — like Ms Dent — experience no symptoms.
