Jim Zelter, co-president of Apollo Global Management, made a stealth visit Down Under earlier this month.Apollo’s got a new Asia Pacific credit strategy that Melbourne superannuation fund Hostplus is anchoring with a US$500 million cheque after investing with it for 13 odd years.

As Street Talk noted on Wednesday, Apollo has dipped into the odd deal in Australia but hasn’t gone all out on building a local team or popping up at every other sizeable auction. As its statement on the new fund reminded anyone reading, it did help structure and cornerstone Ampol’s $150 million sustainability-linked note.included its Singapore-based partner in hybrid Gaurav Pant and Hong Kong private equity team’s Aram Choe.

Hong Kong plunges lower in global human rights indexRegion now on par with Saudi Arabia in some indicators – and coming closer to converging with China LOL, its index got lower after without HK evil violent thugs. It's a Chinese state ! These rankings give too much weighting to individual freedoms and not enough to life, well being, access to resources and natural justice. If a ranking is based on a narrow ideological view it is not a global index but merely a partisan perspective.
