Student protesters have continued to clash with the Hong Kong Police Force in wild scenes around the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with one police officer shot in the leg with an arrow. WARNING: This story contains graphic images.

A Hong Kong police officer is in hospital after being shot in the leg by an arrow as clashes with protesters escalated on Sunday afternoon.Protests have seen petrol bombs thrown as those demonstrating dig in around the Polytechnic UniversityPhotos on the department's Facebook page showed the arrow sticking out of the back of the officer's lower leg through his pants, though the arrow did not come out the other side of his leg.

Water cannon trucks drove over bricks and nails strewn by protesters and sprayed them at close range in a bid to drive away protesters on the streets outside Hong Kong Polytechnic University.Huge fires had lit up the sky at the university in the heart of Kowloon district overnight as protesters hurled petrol bombs, some by catapult, and police fired volleys of tear gas to draw them onto the open podium of the red-brick campus.

After a few quiet hours as protesters slept on lawns and in the university library, police fired fresh rounds of teargas shortly after 10:00am. Activists threw petrol bombs in return, some igniting trees outside the campus.

So gets criticised on Twitter for reporting the 'fact' that the police was attacked with an arrow. Mainstream media have been biased for too long. It's sad that people are not willing to read about the other side of the story.

No interviews with Tim Wilson, Is he still in Hong Kong?

Lucky he didn't shoot back ....would have been a clear case of police brutally for sure

ABC are so biased and craven in their reporting of the HK democracy protests. Is this really the best Australia has to offer... total submission to the CCP?

well, still better than setting people on fire i guess

In case you don’t know what’s happening in HongKong for hongkongpolicebrutality / HongKongPoliceTerrorist / HongKongPoliceTerrorism, we got plenty of photos and videos for you. Again, y u hv to kowtow to China for such unbalanced report?

Yeah, this isn’t a good development.

How about asking these two to exchange the things they are holding? Fair enough? Snipers are nearby, hundreds of tear gas, rubber bullets, water cannon, let alone the sonic weapon they sent out this afternoon! It’s another TianAnMen2019 tyranny

Petrol bombs, bows and arrows.........Police should just get the longer battons out and attack in a V.

Um, can I have my arrow back please.

Doing that is not making their cause better.

I think that this is the wrong way to go and does not serve the purpose of the democracy protests well at all, rather it risks retaliation. The PLA are probably waiting for just the right trigger event to justify going in with guns and tanks. Escalation is the wrong strategy.

I doubt any Australian police will hesitate to draw their pistols, aren’t those black terrorists lucky?

Through, does not appear to have gone through the leg just partial you unethical Chinese propagandist at ABC

Well you did show footage of a protester with a bow & arrow but kept rambling in about police brutality. A bit more journalism & a bit less empathy for violence would be appreciated..
