Home Affairs investigating Maguire's 'cash-for-visas' scam after ICAC hearing

The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed it's helping the NSW corruption watchdog investigate allegations of a so-called 'cash-for-visas' scam involving former Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire.

"As is the case with federal and state and territory members, occasionally representations are made either directly to the department either by way of direct reference to me or to officers within the department or by way of federal members of Parliament," Mr Pezzullo said. PEZZULLO: Not as I am advised in relation to the activities of the former member of the Legislative Assembly Mr Maguire, but in checking the matters that are currently before ICAC I can advise this Committee that certain individuals, not Mr Maguire himself, but certain individuals associated with the matter have come to attention previously.

He told the hearing he introduced several Riverina businessmen to an associate, Maggie Wang, who organised visas for Chinese nationals.

Dutton's annoyed he didn't get his cut.

🤨😡 should be an independent investigation

Crupt NSW Government! We are residents of Kingsgrove near bus depot. A mad woman screaming through loud speaker every day; We can't sleep rest well. Waste water leaking to street; We complained to Andrew, Gladys many years; woman screaming and black water running the same.

Hahahahaha

had visa process not been racial and had uniform rules for all countries then the possibility of corruption will not be there. visa laws are racial..have you ever wondered why an Asian or African cant get a backpacker visa easily while a europian can get it in a weeks times.

Investigated by Home Affairs, the same Home Affairs run by Peter Dutton. So, one criminally overpaid grub investigating another criminally overpaid grub, what could possibly go wrong Federal ICAC NOW!!! One NOT setup by the LNP

Who got the Visas? This guy could beat Al Grassby's record.

Think this will end up in the bin with all the other rorts, must be a big bin!

If only there was any confidence that Home Affairs will be able to find the records.
