Authorities say they'll pay the holiday costs of anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 after travelling there. 9News

Johns Hopkins University dataTourism composed about 15 per cent of the country's GDP last year, and the government is straining to bring back travellers as soon as possible.

"The hit is massive, and we are trying to do our best now and do what we can for the remainder of the season," deputy tourism minister Savvas Perdios said. The Cyprus government hopes to woo tourists back to the island after it escaped large cases of coronavirus.
