Erosion is causing big problems along our coastline. One Aussie company says it has the answer — but red tape is holding it up.

The relatively simple concept was hatched over a decade ago: use an additive to improve concrete so it can resist the ravages of the environment for much longer without compromising the qualities that make it the most widely used material on the planet.

Eden Innovations’ product is being used in the US in many applications, including highway and bridge projects in Georgia, Colorado and Texas.

The product was trialled earlier this year on runways at the third busiest container port in the US at Savannah, Georgia, where a massive expansion to more than double capacity is under way for the next 6-7 years. “That would have absolute direct relevance for any marine application in the world,” Mr Solomon said.

Our beaches should be public spaces, every last inch of them. And it would seem nature agrees.

And what is the cause of this 'massive coastal erosion'? Probably the same one as the bushfires - climate change.

I reckon those people would mind what is holding up their place. If red tape does the job, then so be it.
