'Absolutely outrageous' 9WWOS Boxing

Former NRL star Justin Hodges made light work of New Zealand boxer Troy McMahon, landing a knockout blow within seconds of their heavyweight bout at The Star in Sydney. In only his second professional fight, Hodges still looked the far superior boxer against McMahon, whom he outweighed by almost 12 kg and outsized by 13cm.

Though commentators noted McMahon was "blowing up" at the stoppage, Queensland boxer Jeff Horn said the referee made the right decision. The Auckland boxer was a late call-up for the Hodges fight. Four of Hodges' opponents had withdrawn before McMahon put his hand up.

Other blokes gutted, he was conditioned to last 30 seconds, this is like calling Sunday park footy NRL

They should both retire from boxing🤞

NRLonNine That guy couldn’t knock the skin off rice pudding, absolutely disgraceful matchup

NRLonNine That was a G-up right? That surely wasn’t a serious fight? Unless boxing has turned into some sort of circus!

I felt the referee let the fight go on for too long

I feel sorry for everyone involved

If I were Hodges, I'd be embarrassed. Whoever set this fight up needs to have a bloody good look at themselves. Not the way to promote boxing, that's for sure ....

NRLonNine It’s an embarrassment to the sport and the greats who have stepped into a boxing ring

That’s a disgrace. Hodges sack your manager if you want to maintain ANY credibility

What a joke bencadams23

the runner-up could eventually get a crack at a world title

Hodges is fortunate that he can't suffer any brain damage....
