The High Court’s swift judgment in the case of George Pell has fuelled expectations that he could walk free from jail before Easter. pell

The High Court’s swift judgment in the case of George Pell has fuelled expectations that Australia’s most-senior Catholic cleric could walk free from jail before Easter.

The judgment will be handed down to a largely empty courtroom in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis which has cleared the court’s hearing schedule and confined the judges to chambers. The court's orders will tweeted in the first instance and its judgment published online.

“What is a little notable is that they are publishing Pell ahead of four other judgments that were heard in earlier months but it’s not that notable: the judgments that were heard earlier are all in quite complex cases.”Pell was convicted by a County Court jury in December 2018 of sexually assaulting two choirboys in the priests’ sacristy of St Patrick’s Cathedral shortly after he became Archbishop of Melbourne in 1996.

WTF

If he does walk free, after last night's episode of 'Revelations' he will never be able to move amongst us and Rome doesn't want him back. His life is over and there is no guarantee that further charges won't be bought against him.

they're just clearing their schedule for the remaining Vatican paedos. i.e. all of them!

WTF🤬

Could this be the resurrection of George Pell ?

Pell will be in the same basket as M Jackson and OJ Simpson all guilty but got away with it. So because of his age and the virus he could walk free, why bother, that why that fucking church didn’t take his title away from him they’re all a bunch of bastards. .

Of course he will

Dirty bastard!

Why does anyone think he's going to walk free? After a conviction and failed appeal, I would be very surprised if the High Court were to over turn that. This is a cautious bench, so unless there's a problem with the appellate court's finding, they won't overturn the conviction

WTF 🤦‍♀️

Any overcoat gang members still around?

Lock him up and throw the key away!

Why do so many commentators 'expect he will walk free from jail ' ?

What a pig

He may be all kinds of bad things. But the fact - the facts, the facts - don't warrant him staying gaol. The female head judge felt the 'victim' was telling the truth. 'Felt' ain't good enough. This is the law: facts required & 'beyond reasonable doubt'.

If he walks make sure he's sent straight to Italy. Hell is waiting.

If Pell walks dont expect social distancing

I expect the High Court to turn down the appeal to them because there were no errors in the earlier court decisions.

Is he Hungarian? They have a history of skipping justice

If he walks, FUCK the Jury system FOREVER and it will be on the High Court Judges heads.

Can he do his parole on a cruise ship?

No !

Farce

Fairfax is shit.

Or we could just wait till Tuesday 10am and see what they say.

No justice but an effective legal System in action What ever happened to waiting in LINE money & influence wins again The best legal System money can & often does BUY

The more money you have the more chance you have of winning your case in the Australia's justice system.

You’re effing joking

I hope not

Disgraceful

Julian Assange must walk free. SaveAssangeCOVID19 EvacuateAssangeOZ

Pell would be in age group at greatest risk of COVID19 so sending him back to Rome not the dumbest idea at the moment.

If he walks free justice is blind.

Presumably he has duel citizenship, the Holy See - can we deport him on character grounds?

Any one put yourselves in his boots ...not nice is it while the true perpetrators are out there..his arrogant that's it ...I don't even do Church but I do know when some one is not guilty ..the whole case was a shameful and injustice

Should be a dismissal of the appeal then if quick judgement

He’s guilty as sin.

Proves what a witch hunt this has been from day one. Justice at last

If so he may have further charges to face.

Vale, Tony BransonVale, Tony Branson 😢 The NRL has today paid tribute to the former St George and Kangaroos player, who has passed away aged 73. Have very fond memories of Tony and his family. This is such a sad time for all that knew him especially for my dear friend Leish and her brothers who absolutely adored their dad. He will always remain a legend to the south coast community. Thinking of you. 💗 xx
