Hospital patients are getting caught in a battle between public hospitals and private health insurers over who should pay for their treatment.

Hospital patients are getting caught in the middle of a battle between public hospitals and private health insurers over who should pay for their treatment.

Private health insurers claim they are being used as a cash cow by financially strained public hospitals. For some patients its as innocuous as the posters on the wall of the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne inquiring "Do you have private health insurance?" and wooing them with the line that it will help support the hospital to "continue improving our patient services."

"He was extremely ill and just agreed as all he was told is that it would not cost him anything," was the verbatim feedback from his wife. "If this is how people are going to be treated to manage your operating costs something is terribly wrong,” said Dr David.

Health insurers happy to take your premiums but whinge when you actually access services...and of course Greg 'Yorick' Hunt supports the insurers rather than the hospitals. parasites

sigh Health insurance in the hands of the private sector... What does anybody expect?

Why on earth do we have to have private health insurance if we can't use it? What's more, some of us would rather support the public system than the private health system and it's only fair that it's covered in the same way as the private system. auspol

'It's about women's health': Inside Labor's abortion planPrime Minister Scott Morrison says a debate about abortion will divide Australia. Labor says it is a straightforward public health issue. StuntMo is a moron to call the topic divisive and not good for the country given that is precisely the LNPs MO pre election. 2019 and it’s illogical and frankly suprising that women don’t have legal options in NSW. Abortion, the ultimate expression of hypergamy. It's a state issue not a federal issue.. Here in QLD we're going to have a state govt cancelling maternity services in regional QLD and a federal govt threatening to withdraw funding if those same hospitals don't provide terminations...
