Aged care facilities in all Australian states have recorded infections of COVID-19, with four new nursing homes recording cases in the last two days.

Breaking down the latest news and research to understand how the world is living through an epidemic, this is the ABC's Coronacast podcast.

Assis chief executive officer Paul Cohen told the ABC the residents who came into contact with the staff member had all been tested, with all results negative so far.He said Assisi was monitoring residents, doing additional cleaning, temperature testing and had stopped all family visits. Australian Unity told the ABC the GP was only onsite at the Carlton facility for two hours and had"minimal contact with our residents and employees".

"The Public Health Unit also advised us that residents and employees will not require testing given the lack of close contact and as no-one is showing symptoms," the spokesperson said.

Anyone flouting our laws should be jailed immediately! If not, shot.

My sister works in a nursing home. She has to gear up to go in and strip off to go out, she works incredibly hard both physically and emotionally. And she earns less than people will earn now staying at home with nothing to do. This gap in the system needs amendment.

This really bothers me, if we are serious about protecting our Aged community then healthgovau GregHuntMP richardmcolbeck need to enact more oversight of Aged Care Facilities. auspol herdImmunityByStealth

International medical students eager to join new plan to bolster coronavirus health workforce in NSWNew South Wales has followed in the footsteps of Victoria and launched a scheme to recruit final-year medical students to assist with the COVID-19 response. If the public hospital system is overwhelmed to the extent doctors and nurses are discussing and preparing for, students (nursing or medical) are simply not skilled enough or emotionally ready enough to be amongst such an enviroment. I know this sounds ungrateful. Better options

Doctor warns coronavirus screening at Sydney Airport is a 'public health disaster'Doctor Jacky Hewitt says she is horrified by the coronavirus screening process at Sydney Airport after claiming to have seen a nurse touching passengers' faces without changing gloves. That’d be the airport that once confiscated a teaspoon I had packed along with baby food for the infant travelling with me. NSWHealth GladysB BradHazzard “had received little training ... explained they were overwhelmed and had limited personal protective equipment.” Not another RubyPrincess debacle in the making... Why are dumbasses still running that airport. It’s like nobody’s learned a thing.
