'Swept under the rug': Inside the toxic work environment and misconduct allegations engulfing former Nine Network news director Darren Wick
There are several allegations of inappropriate behaviour involving Wick over the years, including an alleged incident at the Logies afterparty on the Gold Coast in 2019. Yet, he kept his job. Wick was given a warm send-off when he left Nine on March 15th, with glowing remarks from executives. “The environment was very toxic, women consistently felt pitted against each other and you felt like you were on eggshells all the time.”
The complaint is understood to be recent but it related to an alleged incident involving Wick that occurred some years ago. The firm was unable to substantiate the complaint however the decision was made at the highest levels to let him go given his alleged pattern of behaviour.
