TV and reporting legend Ray Martin has praised his long-time colleague Mike Willesee, saying while his death meant it was a 'sad day', it was also a time to celebrate. 9News

Ray Martin has celebrated Willesee's achievements.

Despite being a Labor politician's son, Martin said, Willesee was "just as tough and just as fair" on both sides of politics."I hate the word arrogance, but in fact he was almost arrogant like Greg Chappell was arrogant, or Roger Federer is arrogant," Martin said."Because he knew he was good, he knew he was the best.In the process of his work, Willesee because a household name and even a sex symbol - a label he resisted, though he'd joke about it.
