For the first time in US history, a gun company is held responsible over a mass shooting as Remington settles with the families of nine people killed in the Sandy Hook school massacre.

Gun company Remington Arms has been ordered to pay compensation to the families of five adults and four children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

"These families would do everything to give it all back for just one more minute. That would be true justice," said lawyer Josh Koskoff. Lawyers argued Remington targeted younger, at-risk males in marketing and product placement in violent video games. The settlement with Remington comes as the United States continues to be marred by mass shootings and gun violence.

20,000 people were killed on US roads JUST in the first 6 months of last year. Time to sue all the car makers? As for THEIR advertising, I see peeling rubber, 600+ HP, and drifting and street racing clips on TV spots. Deadly!

It was a Settlement - words matter: 'When asked whether the settlement with Remington included an admission of wrongdoing, Koskoff said he didn't know whether he could get into the details, due to some confidentiality agreements.'

Good start. Maybe all those conspiracy theorists will stop claiming it was faked now. Someone with the resources of a US gun maker would have been able to find any real evidence if it existed. auspol

Sue the government for not banning guns.

State backs plan for luxury lakeside cabins in Queensland national parkThe Queensland government is set to clear the way for 10 private cabins - costing up to $795 a night - overlooking a lake in Great Sandy National Park. So our National parks are now playgrounds for the wealthy. A sad decision for a unique lake and one less state Labor supporter. How about we just let them pitch tents, no need for accommodation to be built, have strict rules in place. If visitors are serious about the environment, they will comply.

Barnaby’s anti-trolling laws going nowhereThe word “troll”, incidentally, is not to be found once in the Anti-Trolling Bill. Good. Those laws aren’t anti-trolling laws, they’re anti-democracy laws. He wants to know who are the critics of the government so he can go after them. They absolutely must be stopped. Probably because introducing a new legal term like 'troll', without a precedent definition in the courts, would be up for significant challenge. Safer to define illegal activities using already tried and tested legalese. YaThinkN Another 🔥
