Disapproval of PM’s performance ticks up while 60% think masks should return to stop Covid’s winter spread

But Australians continued to do it tough, whacked by rising consumer prices, including petrol prices going over $2 a litre. The Reserve Bank last week also triggered, hitting households already struggling with the rising cost of living. Recent floods were also likely to exacerbate shortages that have increased the price of fruit and vegetables.

A cold and wet winter has also seen a spike in cases of the flu and Covid. Voters were asked a series of questions in the latest survey about the ongoing management of the pandemic and about their own experiences with Covid.since the virus emerged two and a half years ago.

While the latest results suggested Australians remained uncomfortable with current high death rates, the Guardian Essential data suggested attitudes have shifted over time. Back in August 2021, 61% of respondents thought Australia’s acceptable deaths should be less than 100 a year . A year ago, 25% of respondents thought an acceptable death rate was between 100 and 1,000 deaths .The new poll suggested community sensibilities about the pandemic were split. More than half the sample thought we needed to treat Covid like the flu and just get on with normal life, and just under half of respondents said they thought most people with infections recovered quickly.

But there was also concern about hospitals and support for mask wearing in certain settings to lower rates of viral transmission. A majority was concerned hospitals were dealing with too many Covid patients and consequently lacked capacity for other illnesses or emergencies.More than half of respondents also agreed with the decision last week to extend a fourth booster shot to Australians.

Honey is running away from the moon

Every time anyone is elected, we get this kind of article. It's a boring cliché & I don't believe it anymore. The news cycle has become literally that - a cycle, & tediously repetitive.

What crap,I thought the Guardian was better than this . A beat up for a paltry headline .

Running a government in this environment of exploding COVID, fuel prices, food, massive trade issues and environmental issues and debt and increasing cost of money is always going to be bloody grim. And it certainly is never going to be about a popularity contest. Time for adults

Well its hardly surprising. Honeymoons always end. And the press went out of their way not to report the honeymoon and to focus instead on 24/7 reporting of the constant moaning of the bitter ex. Boo Hoo. Pity me.

And ….?

Admittedly never a big fan. Scoring runs going after low hanging fruit was smart. Now becomes more difficult & signs are not good: - More coal - FFS! - ICAC sounding flaky - Assange & Boyle - zip - Stage 3 tax cuts - Refugees - Subs - ...

55% think we should treat Covid like a common cold and get on with it. These are the people driving the variants. WHO says it’s only a matter of time before we get a variant as deadly as Delta, as transmissible as Omicron.

Who really cares about polls .Let him get on with the job

This bloke is a dill

These things ebb and flow but really, Absolutely anything is better than Morrison.

If he doesn’t speak up about speaking up for Assange and he gets extradited. The left will turn quickly and ferociously. That’s a global free press issue plenty are interested and care.similarly if he doesn’t improve centrelink job networks he will know about it.

So sick of perpetual polling.

Disapproval goes from 18% to 24%, yet the Guardian headline writer declares the honeymoon is over. Ridiculous headline 🤦🏻‍♂️

1097 Guardian readers. That's it?

IStandWithAlbo AlboIsOurPM

Seriously! It’s been less than 3 months since the election. It takes time to clean up the shitshow left by the LNP! FFS.

60% think masks should be back, but I don't see 60% of people wearing masks. Do they not know it's okay to wear them without a mandate? I'm wearing. It is possible.

I think he is doing a great job. Three exceptions... Julian Assange Covid Coal Mines Hoping that he will strike them off my list! AlboMP

Because people are genuinely feeling the cost of living pressure and we don’t see enough effort to tackle the problem

Lol

2022 Albo vote for Labor only Labor can lower the cost of living. Albo 3rd month in the job Banks raise interest rates again. Power bills up Gas bills up Petrol up & Albo will put a 23cent tax on petrol Sep Food cost up Voters Remorse Anyone?

Mr 56% but just over 1000 sample is ridiculously small sample

Greens to push Albanese government to broaden powers of anti-corruption watchdogThe Greens want the federal integrity commission to have broader investigative powers and independent funding. LisaVisentin All this virtue-signalling and grandstanding. How about dealing first with the corruption we know about in Queensland and Victoristan? Oh, that's right, this is all about smearing and persecuting any conservative politicians. P1 LisaVisentin Next it will be the racist voice to parliament, change the flag and Aust Day. Then it will be BLM, Extinction Rebellion, climate change nutters and the fascist Antifa terrorists sowing dissent, political unrest and executing people in the street. Straight out of US Dem playbook. LisaVisentin Nothing regarding ‘corruption’ comes to fruition or is cover-up. Australians are so awake now.
