The Greens' inner-city surge fails as Labor keeps key inner-city seat, and the party is blaming the ALP's 'extreme negativity'

Negativity is made a little easier when you fail to properly vet your candidates.

As someone who used to not only be a member but a heavily involved one unless and until the party are capable of some critical self reflection their vote will continue to drop, and deservedly so

Its nationwide trend, ALP cannibalising the Greens & where possible destabilising the Nats as much as possible. As their numbers swell they'll go for SFFP, PHON as they'll be very easy pickings. Libs under pressure, less chance of Hung Parliaments. Reckon that's the GetUp! plan

The prospect of being elected into office on the Green ticket changed the party from those being driven by ideals to those hungry to be in politics. The swing against greens was only 1%. The real damage was in the preference swapping in the upper house by minor parties.

Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that they can't field a half-way decent candidate, and they can't help but play games with their preferences. 😂

The Greens project accountability and play thd victim card. The habits of unsuccessful people.

randlight Um, really, it’s called politics.

The reality of Adam Bandt's politicking, the vote against a carbon tax, these anti-green actions are not what greens voters stood for, so they are unhappy Greens and change is needed. Introspection.

a 'progressive 'party proven to contain too many men who have regressive attitudes towards women

Labor did not destroy you. Your damn SAVE THE PLANET POLICIES whilst you were enjoying all nature has to offer at Tax payer expenses and your stand on undesirable refugees is what destroyed you. Your party stands for NOTHING

randlight When the Greens attack Labor, they lose votes

It’s a shame the greens have become an irrelevant as a political party due to their own culture.

randlight I think the Greens have learnt to do better vetting of their candidates next time?

Bit ironic blaming someone else. One might say it extremely negative especially in light of all the internal issues they had.

Nothing to do with the Greens abhorrent behaviour then? They won’t learn anything unless they’re willing to look in the dark corners & clean them out

I’m so glad that people are starting to see through the greens it’s only a matter of time until they are totally wiped out all together

That’s the problem with the Greens they blame Labour for their own mistakes just like those loser Liberals

The greens are just the political representation of Melbournites elitest self righteous, self loathing white middle class

I have in the past voted greens out of frustration from the Labor but they did themselves No favors with the bullying and misconduct within their party. They should look Within to lay blame.

Greens have been attacking Labor for years. Now they bleat when Labor returns the favor.

Your Federal leader is toxic to the Green brand. And blaming the ALP? You guys targeting the ALP all the time with your negativity. Getting old.

As a Local Council Councillor & Mayor she wasn’t inclusive. Jumped midship for political power hunger. She has blocked her fellow citizens for having a differing view point. I hope that people see the Greens for the political extremism that sends a historic shiver to the spine!

The one good bit of news. People are seeing through the Greens’ narcissism and deceit VicElection2018 auspol

Greens shot themselves in the foot with their own gun. Misogyny, sexual harassment and are responsible for their poor results

The one bright light tonight. The greens will colour this a hundred different types of conspiracy and bull 💩. Bottom line, you’re rubbish and maybe people are waking up to that fact

Or it might just be because the green party is a fucking joke.

One of the reason for the Green's loses might be that the majority Green candidates appear to be from the Indian subcontinent. Not necessarily racist reasons, however, not easy to imagine genuine green credentials coming from India or Pakistan. Most likely political opportunism.

Thorpe looks as deranged as your average greens supporter 😳

Or their own muppetry. One or the other.

So the Greens blame ALP Negativity for their demise and ALP claim Liberal negativity for their success. Are they both correct?

One day the Greens will wake up to the fact that they need to target the conservative parties ans reject the laziness of targeting Labor seats. Take the progressive argument up against the regressives.

I’d blame the distractions caused by poor vetting of pre-selected candidates which stole crucial policy air time.

The change over from fossil fuels to renewables was always going to be a slow process, this cannot happen overnight, I don't think the Greens have any common sense, they should do their homework on this matter.
