It would slash the targeted annual intake of permanent migrants by up to 30,000. Good idea? auspol

Cabinet has authorised the changes, which would slash the targeted annual intake of permanent migrants by up to 30,000,A regional settlement policy would require a certain number of skilled migrants to live for at least five years in cities other than Sydney and Melbourne.

The government will also provide incentives for foreign students to attend universities away from the two major cities, as part of its bid to reduce congestion in Sydney and Melbourne.

Stupid idea. Who will fill the jobs Aussies won't do?

We can take more after the recession‼️

That's a drop in the ocean, what about the 700000+ non permanent immigrants here now?

Take it back to 75,000. 160,000 plus all the other ways people are getting into Australia to live is just far too many. Australians deserve services and infrastructure to be bought back up to go close in coping as it is.

Great idea

cap it at 1000. Japans level is 0

Needs to be done pm.

Cut immigration because we can’t ramp up infrastructure building yes, cut it because of politics of hate/fear and economic blundering, no

Statistically, 73% of voters want the number of 130K reduced down to approx 60,000. As we dont 50 million by 2030, we ask these pollies, how are they going to fix this. Either reduce numbers, or build 7-10 hospitals across the land. If not, then no.

160000 forced to stay in regional areas for 5 years = Death of family farms in Australia. Another Watergrab Majority of country kids are leaving family farms to obtain employment in Cities These farms are being bought up by foreigners / Corps. Oz will be the France.

As long as it's all immigration, including white anglo folk.

I would rather we look at the abilities of migrants and what they will do to contribute to our society overall rather than a number. Not what they do & where they come from but what kind of Australian do they want to become. How are they going to enhance our beautiful country.

The idea is good - The number is too low!

Most important thing for me is capping religious immigration, ie you can allow so many muslims in that eventually so many millions could elect in a sharia gov, we dont want that in free democratic societies. Religious caps should've been placed decades ago

Not enough but a good start.

We should cap it at far less than that.

'Extremely important': CEOs back immigration as cuts to intake loomChief executives of some of Australia's biggest companies have thrown their support behind the nation's immigration program. Of course it’s important to them, greater access to labour allows them to keep wages low. The benefits to high immigration for the average person are negligible. yeah of course - they reap the benefits without having to live with the corresponding overcrowding, congestion, property shortages and lower wages. Better if they start to relocate their businesses to Regional area's. 'He would say that wouldn't he?' Business always want more customers -.............. to milk!

Scott Morrison moves to insulate looming cut in immigration intake from Christchurch falloutScott Morrison has slammed the use of concerns over immigration levels to justify the massacre in Christchurch. . This is awkward... we have a housing slump & infrastructure r nearly finished We should cut pop intake Many r duds driving Uber running cafe or working in massage&brothel What we need is skilled robotic &programming Not more small /stall traders No ScottMorrisonMP I don’t blame immigration for traffic jams, public hospital queues, housing costs, or wage stagnation. The only fault lies in lack of funding for health, public education, housing and infrastructure and that is entirely your fault.
