The federal government is considering using the Howard Springs facility in the Northern Territory to quarantine returned travellers from India.

| The proposal will be discussed in response to the first legal action against the Commonwealth's use of emergency powers.

Flights carrying aid from Australia could also help transport stranded citizens and residents back home after the travel ban is lifted. The current rules block Australians from returning if they have been in India over the past fortnight. Any breaches face the threat of prison sentences and fines. Around 9,000 Australians are stuck in India, including 900 who are considered vulnerable.

They have been announcing this the last 5months everyones worn out of the anouncments and re announcements of the same thing, to have any primeminister constantly lie to the people is a cancer.

The only thing it will stop is community transmission. The facility still will need to be 24hr full hr security in each of the apartments to not transmit to eachother. If person A has virus then in 2 days meets with person B in 2nd appartment then person B needs to stay extra

Interment camps on the agenda again, ya all stupid to think 14days quarantine does anything to stop the spread of any virus. How many persons already done 14days & still test positive. The vax does NOT stop transmission or infection people, wake up to the scamdemic.

Then fight back against the system take to the streets and say enough is enough

Government considering using Howard Springs exclusively for Australians returning from IndiaThe government is considering using Howard Springs to only quarantine Indian returned travellers, as a way to expedite getting people out of the country when the travel ban ends. Yes, do that instead. Omg, why dont they do this in the first place Morrison dragged kicking and screaming into doing something again lol The 'expedite' bit should have been in operation months ago! Didn't the PM promise to have all aussies wanting to return home, back by Xmas? Looks like he meant Xmas 2001.

Government considering Howard Springs as exclusive India quarantine facility | Sky News AustraliaImmigration Minister Alex Hawke has told The Australian newspaper the federal government is considering a plan to use the Howard Springs quarantine facility solely for repatriations travellers from India. \n\nHowever, one concern raised about the proposal is the number of travellers the Northern Territory facility would be able to accommodate as capacity is yet to be boosted. \n\nBoth the territory and federal governments said accommodation was supposed to be ramped up to make 2000 beds available per fortnight from the beginning of this month. \n\nStaff shortages, however, have stalled expanding the facility’s capacity – with just 160 of 400 advertised jobs filled. \n\nNT Senator Sam McMahon said accommodation “absolutely can’t be ramped up to the 2,000 people at the moment because of the staffing issues”. \n\n“It would be foolish to try and ramp up the facility to 2,000 unless the required staff are there.” \n What a fucking masterstroke. At last some common sense. You would certainly NOT give Victorian government federal funded expanded hotel quarantine facilities. It's like putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank, disaster. Victorians have suffered enough death & misery under Dan Andrews. ScottMorrisonMP What’s the chances that even when this commences and thousands of people who never wanted to live in Australia have been brought back, people will still be complaining?!

COVID-19 case in Howard Springs after repatriation flight from IndiaA person returned to Australia on a repatriation flight from India has tested positive to COVID-19. Seems like another lockdown will be there. Ofcourse there will be! If government take care of quarantine facility well then what's an issue ? Oh yes they did nothing to make strong quarantine system. Please be careful when handling the Indians. Make sure to wash your hands and spray with antibacterial sprays. I do the same when I receive deliveries from the Indians.

How did a COVID case make it undetected from India to Howard Springs?Epidemiologists say a new COVID case from the recent New Delhi repatriation flight — which was diagnosed in Australia after two earlier rounds of testing — likely made it here due to how long it takes for the virus to become detectable. It's the nature of viruses to be present in the body for some time before the body's immune response kicks in. If the body is infected in the days before taking a test, it's fully possible that the infection wasn't detectable. This situation is going to be a common one, sadly. More proof ( if needed ) that repatriating these dual citizens is a bad idea. A recent newspaper showed 73% want to keep national borders closed. Scotty is going to romp the next election if he firms up and man's up on this issue. We can't afford or cope with this It is a virus... ffs you could be negative one day and positive the next
