Stephen Crichton and Mitchell Moses featured on a highlights reel that was already extensive by half-time on Wednesday night.

Depending on your allegiance, it was either the best of times or the worst of times. “Times”, in this case, refers to the opening 40 minutes at the MCG on Wednesday night.

Queensland skipper Daly Cherry-Evans conceded after the game: “We got what we deserved. We didn’t play the way we wanted to play, and the Blues made us pay.”Jarome Luai’s kick for Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow wasn’t his best, but Crichton showed tremendous urgency to drag ‘The Hammer’ back into his in-goal. The Maroons had barely had any ball to that point. After Moses launched into Dearden, possession was returned to the Blues. They scored off the next set.

The Maroons had defended for basically the entire first half. They were entitled to catch their breath.Crichton has taken plenty of intercepts. He reads the play better than nearly every other centre in the game. A minute later, Cherry-Evans was tackled by Crichton at the other end of the field and finally snapped when Crichton showed too much enthusiasm. The NSW centre was placed on report.
