BREAKING: Two people have died after a train hit a car at Mallala, north of Adelaide:

South Australia Police said the accident happened about 3pm on Thursday when a Pacific National goods train travelling south towards Adelaide collided with a Ford 4WD at a level crossing just south of Mallala.An Australian Rail Track Corporation spokesman told news.com.au the train was travelling from Perth to Melbourne.

Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash between a Pacific National freight train and a car at Mallala, about 60km north of Adelaide. Train was heading from Perth to Melbourne. Major crash investigators are making their way to the scene. More to come.
