The business case for multi-storey warehouses in Australia is gaining pace amid a surge in industrial land values, record low vacancy rates and forecasts of further strong rental growth.

Global property giant Goodman Group is stepping up plans for its first multi-storey warehouses in Australia through a $700 million investment at two inner-city Sydney sites, which are soon to host the next generation in high-performance logistics assets.

The second project, at 22.6 metres high with two levels and close to 20,000 square metres, is proposed for 546-548 Gardeners Road in Alexandria. “Another way we help improve the efficiency of buildings is by optimising land use,” he wrote. “Goodman’s focus is on infill locations, close to consumers, where we can regenerate existing sites and optimise space by building multi-storey facilities.”
