Can you imagine if any one of the six US Supreme Court justices who decided to overturn Roe v Wade had instead thought to themselves: “Good for her, not for me”? | OPINION by Amelia Lester

, the comedian Amy Poehler shares a motto she thinks women should constantly repeat, over and over again: “Good for her, not for me.” That book came out in 2014 but I have been thinking about Poehler’s maxim lately, ever since theCan you imagine if any one of the six justices who decided to overturn Roe, effectively banning abortion for half the country, had instead thought to themselves: “Good for her, not for me”? The legal term I’ve heard about the ruling, and why it is unprecedented, is.

At the time of writing, just a few days after the Supreme Court’s decision, 11 states have passed laws banning abortion outright; 12 are expected to follow shortly. That’s half the US, and I’ve heard nothing but rage and fear and sadness from the other half – even though people I’m speaking to mostly live in liberal bastions like New York and California where abortion is unlikely to ever be illegal.

They are just power hungry little people who love to force their own personal opinions on others, it's simply called bullying, there was no need to reverse this law. And don't try and tell me the churches were not behind this as well, they have been bullying women for centuries.

Each state decides abortion laws?

I understand why they are protesting but there's no need to in Australia as it's a leftist government.

Abortion, the ultimate expression of hypergamy. Dig past the first few basic google definitions men, understand their true natures and what makes them tick. Unlearn all the pretty lies.

Rather than a Supreme Court perhaps they should just run opinion polls to reach decisions. Not sure you would be happy with the outcome.

You do realise this was a US legal decision. Also it overturns nothing it becomes state based just like Australia. The US Supreme Court is in the US not Australia.

After taking the vac their reproductive systems are screwed anyway.

That’s Got nothing to do with what they personally think…… it was Never in the Constitution and needed to remain so. It’s up too the individual states… like Sanctuary Cities for Eg.

Biden signs executive orders to safeguard abortion as frustration mountsThe move comes as anger among Democrats and pro-choice advocates grows over the White House’s response to the overturning of Roe v Wade. FarrahTomazin His bill add meaningless protections. States will make their own rules. FarrahTomazin So the supreme court ruled that individual states via the democratic process, get to decide their own laws. Biden signs a futile fiat executive order, ignoring the democratic process of passing a federal law to stifle states rights to decide their own laws. FarrahTomazin I thought presidents who try to override the supreme court via executive order are Dictators Who Threaten Democracy™ though, or has that gone back to being ok now?
