All Australians with Type 1 diabetes will have access to crucial glucose monitoring devices if the Coalition is returned to government. diabetes auspol australiavotes

Social Services Minister Anne Ruston will be health minister and replace the retiring Greg Hunt if Scott Morrison wins the next election.Victorian ministers Jane Hume and Michael Sukkar and Western Australian Ben Morton are among the front-runners to move up into the cabinet and take over the families and social services portfolio.

At present, about 59,000 Australians including pregnant women, people under 21 and concession cardholders have subsidised access to the devices, which otherwise cost about $5000 per year. The federal government has also revealed that the prostate cancer drug Erlyand and Empliciti, which is used to treat multiple myeloma, will both be listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for the first time – reducing the price to $42.50 per script - from May 1.

My 25YO Type 1 diabetes son says this is already subsided

9 years not long enough ?

Why have they waited till now to make these available? - they've had 9 years!

Naah. All Australians with Type 1 diabetes get an announcement that access to glucose monitors will be available. Evidence that the monitors are anything other than 'notional' lies in past performance of announcement delivery...

What a nothing announcement and as if a labor govt who created medicare & promises to strengthen it would not also ensure type 1's have access to the tools they need to live.

What is this a blackmail announcement? The same should be said of any govt that is elected. If the tech is available it stands to reason it’ll be available regardless of who gets in! Big question is why have they waited till now?

But... but... Morrison doesn't care about our health! And is getting rid of Medicare!!

Will that be like all the other promises and plans from the LNP. Why are they not just doing it instead of planning to do it. How does that compare to all that they have pulled out of health funding. A few questions that could be asked of the LNP next time you get a chance

Good luck getting them. Key words here announcement, access and LNP. Anything LNP say should come with a Furfy 🍺 warning ⚠️

Yeah sure, more false promises they never intend to keep while they continue to insidiously kill off Medicare by stealth. LNPCorruptionParty AlboForPM

Even though I use CGM and struggle to afford it, I won't vote for them. I'll never vote for them. Pressure AlboMP to fund CGM for all people with type1diabetes instead. We're a small group but it's lifesaving technology

What about type 2 people that are on insulin Why can't they get access to the monitor as well
