Comment: It's Mardi Gras season. Some gay people want to dance down Oxford Street in a jockstrap to a Cher song. Others want to watch the footy and drink a beer. And that's OK | nathanaelcooper

It's hard to move in Sydney at the moment without tripping over the fact it is Mardi Gras season.

I was about 12 or 13 years old, growing up in a small town in regional Queensland. I already had an idea that I might be attracted to men instead of women and at that point my only exposure to anything gay was a boy who'd been chased out of school because he'd asked another boy on a date, and an old creep in the showers at the beach.

This weekend ritual took up most of my next few years. Tanning and decorating the bits of my body that weren't covered by clothes. Some gay friends have described me as anti-gay, or say that I have internalised homophobia or am not comfortable with my sexuality.

nathanaelcooper Oh boy, It's Mardi gras season. Can't await for people to celebrate who they fuck!

nathanaelcooper I have no issue with the LGBT community besides the silenced rampant LGBT on LGBT domestic violence the media never speaks off. Oh and the fact I cant walk down the street dressed like that without being arrested, what's it called again... INEQUALITY

nathanaelcooper The parade itself is a crass, unseemly display that highlights a striking double standard. But meh. Whatever. auspol

nathanaelcooper I guess some people want to go back to the old days of 'poofter bashing' with a little murder added to give this subject a dash of drama. Or maybe just resort to 'outing' and name calling like 'kiddy fiddlers'. I wouldn't like that, these people have families like us & are loved.

nathanaelcooper Good read. Well done nathanaelcooper

nathanaelcooper this is awful , abomination is pretty emphatic. I can see the world cant last much longer with this sort of crap.

nathanaelcooper Some of us 'gay' people who don't prance up Oxford St prefer not to call ourselves 'gay' at all. We have nothing in common with them except a love of cock

nathanaelcooper

nathanaelcooper And some people take kids to see this adult entertainment. If I walked around wearing a G-string and nipple tassels I'd get arrested. But because this money making scheme is now an event, people are allowed to wave their dildos and flesh lights around. Okayyyy makes sense

nathanaelcooper Gasp! You mean the homosexuals arent a homogeneous stereotype but individual people like everyone else?! Well bugger me sideways...

nathanaelcooper How much you want a bet that there will be a climate activist float to support their stupid course! Fck them!....actually..don't! Not worth it!

nathanaelcooper AND there are lesbians.

nathanaelcooper The LGBTI community wouldn’t suffer as much of the homophobia and other abuse if they just got on with their lives like the rest of the population. Hats of to the guys that watch the footy they don’t need to label themselves and hold a parade.

nathanaelcooper Media celebrates silly dressing up but attacks traditional values. Media spreads climate fear, and censor diversity of opinion. Do folks still believe what the media rant?

nathanaelcooper

nathanaelcooper I am interested to know why we should care? Are they not just humans like the rest of us? Honestly tired of hearing about this issue, and I would wager so are the vast majority of gays.

nathanaelcooper Anus isn't a part of human reproductive system at all. It's a part of waste excretion system

nathanaelcooper Genesis 19 has a good story about this.

nathanaelcooper This so called event never had any meaning and Now has No meaning whats so ever. There are More important issues in life then this

nathanaelcooper Disgusting spectacle. Sexuality is private. Repulsive celebrations of nothing. And I voted for SSM but this is the limit of perversity

I survived my abuser. But Hannah Clarke's murder is a reminder that many women don'tIf actions speak louder than words, then what Australia is actually saying to victims of domestic abuse right now is roll the dice. System doesn't work obviously. Two solutions, 1. Women need to choose better initially and 2. Women need to sacrifice lifestyle/child rearing and get a good job so they are financially independent and can leave a situation. Isn't that feminism at its core? ........asnd the point of this article is what? This subject needs much more expression and discussion than the few characters allowed on Twitter. What a tragic loss for everybody involved in this terrible and unsuccessful relationship.
