Makayla has autism, oppositional defiant disorder, Tourette’s, ADHD and anxiety. She told Nine News she has a voice in her head she struggles to cope with herself, let alone explain to others.
Her mother, Megan, said in a Facebook post she has been told by health professionals her daughter is “one of the kids who has fallen in between the gaps, and she will stay there”. The Sydney woman said she doesn’t blame the police or health workers for their actions, nor does she feel wronged by carers, school or emergency staff.
She explained children with high care needs often wound up in mental health services where they could end up exposed to illicit drugs and inappropriate behaviour.

Shouldn't have been at school. Should be an specialised teaching facility with trained staff on hand.
Absolutely with the mother. The girl shouldn’t be at the school. She needs specialist care and a public school isn’t the place for it.

The Mental Health System needs addressing, more specialised facilities are needed with qualified staff. Adults, teenagers are young children need to be segregated and then again according to their Mental illness.
This is heartbreaking, once a child is inside a facility the parent has no rights. The child can be strapped into a white gown, given trial medications, cannot be removed, contact is limited and they are exposed to other patients who due to illness are dangerous.
