The Coalition has repeated calls for the Immigration Minister to step down over his perceived failures with Direction 99 amid revelations it has been used to keep child rapists in Australia.

Picture: AAT Direction 99 has stipulated the Administrative Appeals Tribunal must give greater tolerance to foreign offenders with “ties to Australia”. “If you’ve issued a ministerial direction which allows child rapists to stay in this country, there shouldn’t be any hesitation. You should repeal that direction.”
