abc.net.au/news/german-aquarium-bursts-killing-1500-tropical-fish-in-berlin/101784556A huge aquarium in Berlin that was home to around 1,500 exotic fish has burst, spilling 1 million litres of water and debris onto a major road in the busy Mitte district, emergency services said.
Mayor Franziska Giffey said the incident had unleashed a "veritable tsunami" of water but the early morning timing had prevented far more injuries."We would have had terrible human damage had the aquarium burst even an hour later, once more people were awake and in the hotel and the surrounding area," she said.
A spokesperson for the fire brigade told Reuters it was still unclear what had caused the AquaDom aquarium to burst.Sea Life Berlin said in a statement its team was shocked by the incident and was trying to obtain more information from the owners of the AquaDom about what had caused the incident. The company, which had offered glass elevator rides through the AquaDom aquarium, said it would also remain closed until further notice.
I hope they find memo
