Mr Millet later paid tribute to Mr Hearps after he discovered hours later it was a colleague that was behind the control stick when it went down.“He was such a great guy. He was one of those blokes who would drop everything to help anyone in need and would always have this friendly nature about him.Mr Hearps regularly assisted in rescue missions during bushfires and flooding disasters.
“He loved flying his helicopters and always helping when the fires went through plus floods in the Hawkesbury area."

I served with the british SAS and at the time i was there it was know that we had more deaths from unreliable helicopters than had died in action . Never trusted them nor would fly in one since . Dropped like a stone with engine failure or the small control wheel at the rear .
