Repair specialists say it is part of a growing trend which has seen the invasive Asian house gecko destroying cooling systems across New South Wales and Queensland.

Mr Cooper said he had found it difficult to come up with ways to prevent geckos from entering air-conditioning units, with some suggestions failing spectacularly.

"After a business client had an issue with gecko damage, I called Tweed Council asking for advice and they told me to put naphthalene, like in moth balls, into the air-conditioner," he said. "We repaired it, but within a month the owner rang us to say it wasn't working again, when I went in I lifted the lid and the actual geckos were running across the naphthalene flakes so we found that not to be a deterrent at all," he said.

Both Mr Kellahan and Mr Cooper said while they have not found a way to keep the pests at bay, they have had some success in reducing damage by spraying the electrical circuit boards with an anti-corrosion spray during installation.Dr Conrad Hoskins from James Cook University, who has been studying the impact of the Asian house geckos on native animals, said geckos are attracted to air-conditioners because they provide a perfect hiding place.

The geckos and the air conditioners come from the same place Asia, so why do we allow for the importation of devices that are so poorly designed and fabricated that they can be damaged so easily by something that is endemic to the point of origin?

Well, Australia has always said it wanted to be part of Asia, welcome to a common every day occurrence. Just don`t sleep with your mouth open.

Lord Gecko, our invasion the kingdom locals call “Actron” is underway.

Foreign affairs leaders unite in condemnation of Turkey's 'military aggression'The chairs of foreign affairs committees in the British, French, German, and European parliaments and the US House of Representatives assailed the Turkish operation as a 'military aggression' and violation of international law. It’s not illegal when we do it, it’s only illegal when someone else does it 🤡 And what will those Eurotrash countries do about it? Nothing. Nothing except virtue signaling from afar like they always do. They expect US soldiers to fight and die in endless quagmire wars. Of course those kKk0l0n!$ts would cry foul. It's in their nature to whinge and be hypocrites.
