The federal Treasurer’s worst-case scenario for household gas prices has become a reality with prices up by 30 per cent in Queensland and 22 per cent in New South Wales over the past year.

Jim Chalmers had previously warned prices would rise by 20 per cent this year and next without intervention.

Bills are expected to rise even higher with EnergyAustralia consumers in Victoria to pay an average of 26.7 per cent extra from next month and Origin and AGL to follow a similar trajectory.

The coal & gas price cap legislation is an abject, foreseeable failure, inevitable under a AustralianLabor Bowenchris JEChalmers AlboMP single-term Government. AusPol TheVibe

that great piece of legislation for gas prices must have been written by the right people.........interesting

I predict Australia will follow the WEF plan to get people off gas and into electricity, preferably intermittent renewables. This should align neatly with a Labor/Greens focus on centralized control, taxation and restrictions on individual consumption, part of Agenda 2030.

Lucky we have the labor gov to cap the rise and decrease the load of hardship

and they will not admit that they got it wrong and keep pushing it .

any plans to sort this out AlboMP ?

Naturally the first thing the ALP actually does is a complete stuff up.

Cheers Albo 👍

Lucky we have a price cap hey..!

The main price rises occurred during the LIBERAL/MURDOCH rein which ended 7 months ago! RBA also announced interest rises until the middle of this year BEFORE the election too. WHO'S FAULT MURDOCH?
