This recession has hit female workers harder than male workers. Addressing this in ScottMorrisonMP and JoshFrydenberg's mini-budget isn't about gender fairness; it's about bolstering the economy. | ANALYSIS by Ross Gittins

This recession is different in many ways. One is that it has hit female workers harder than male workers. So a good test of the adequacy of Scott Morrison and Josh Frydenberg’s mini-budget on Thursday will be how much it focuses on the needs of women.

Morrison has already started talking about the need for reforms to the structure of the economy to encourage faster growth in the years ahead. By contrast, the total saving for most women working part-time or in typical jobs done by females will be no more than about 1 cent in the dollar. That will motivate no one.

ScottMorrisonMP JoshFrydenberg 'Sorry, gender doesn’t apply to the tax scales' Nor should it Gittins! Feminists like you demand gender equality, which we have in Australia, but then come up with stupid comments like the above one, which reeks of female supremacy!

ScottMorrisonMP JoshFrydenberg Why does Ross Gittens think women do not have agency and are incapable of making their own decisions! We have equality of opportunity in Australia, men & women are paid the same for the same work! If a woman chooses to work in an airconditioned retail shop instead of a .....

ScottMorrisonMP JoshFrydenberg What an unbelievably sexist article! The welfare safety nets do not discriminate between genders! Men still expected to be the breadwinner in many families. Every week 42 men suicide! Let's focus on that during this period of increased stress! Stop the feminist whining!

ScottMorrisonMP JoshFrydenberg Unpopular opinion: To fix the government mistake, no one should be allowed to travel more than 1km from their homes except for GP, chemist, groceries. Stage 4 lockdown in hotspot suburbs TODAY

ScottMorrisonMP JoshFrydenberg The best thing they can do for gender fairness is free universal child care (regardless of income). Every working person should be entitled to it. High earning successful women are being unfairly held back.

Australia seeks to boost number of international students as visas processing resumesA raft of measures have been announced to ensure Australia remains an attractive destination for international students. Australia should shut its borders and send all Indian and Chinese students back home. They have no interest in studying, all they want is permanent residency. Good luck with that Does it include longer lines at food banks for international students left destitute and excluded from government assistance?
