The federal government is still resisting calls for needs-based funding for domestic violence services in the Northern Territory, despite citing concerns about women's safety as a basis for emergency alcohol restrictions.

Rishworth said needs-based funding was "a really important conversation" but did not make any commitments.

Shirleen Campbell says if domestic violence services were adequately funded "we wouldn't be in this situation". "The trauma story didn't come out, the poverty story didn't come out," she said.Ms Campbell said alcohol dependence was not unique to Central Australia.

Take responsibility for your own actions

How many more billions is the govt going to spend on this mob for no result. Perhaps all the funding should be given to the Voice advisory committee who can decide how to spend it but once it is spent, then there is no more. But wait, I just remembered ATSIC!

An example of a voice to Parliament, without having to under go a face based constitutional referendum?

Thoughts? Ms Campbell said the source of the NT's high rates of domestic and family violence 'goes back to colonisation'.

Theblackfemini3 A community reliant on government is always going to end up on the shit. How many times do you need to be told socialism doesn’t work.

Community leaders need to take control or do you wield no respect? Everyone in this country has had it tough, immigrants from afar, broken families and tragedy. The majority pick themselves up and move on. The more this nonsense carries on the more your support diminishes.

'Last year, a Four Corners investigation revealed 315 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have been murdered, killed or disappeared in the last two decades.' Is that more than from deaths in custody? Where is the royal commission and protests? If only they were in a city

they need lots of babysitters for everything For health for family violence They need teaching to respect properties like shop owners losing money due to repeated vandalism n break ins They need family n career counselors etc etc

Isn't it more appropriate to rather get the abuser gaoled and sued. Take the problem away and it can't keep up the abuse. I get there's a victim of abuse but not taking the abuser away Isn't going to stop anything. It's what happens almost everywhere else as well as VRO's

No one is coming to help because last time they did it was labelled: 'the stolen generation'

I think it’s time that “First Nations”, people take personal responsibility for their actions, instead of blaming everyone else. Where are parents & elders of the community. They want to be recognised in the Constitution but they need to take responsibility.

Easy.... personal responsibility goes a long way, but the victim industry hates that concept.

Good luck unscrambling that egg..

Domestic violence funding? Stop beating your women and children, problem solved.

Where is all the current funding going? $30 + bill per year and that’s not enough?

How about arresting the violent perpetrators rather than leaving to bash each other up in the left’s cultural petting zoo?

My Irish ancestors were starved/persecuted out of their home by the British. My mother was orphaned in WWII. If I quit work, drank daily & beat my family, nobody would excuse my actions because of my family’s past but we apply the soft bigotry of low expectations to Aboriginals.

He said there are many Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the town whose lives are being “adversely impacted”. “They need to act because these kids need to be protected, they need to act because people are committing offences against the law,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “If the rule of law isn’t applied equally, then you will get disorder and dysfunction within communities and that is not what we want to see.” Duttons answer An effective way would be lock them up to dry out, after all great timing. Anthony Albanese to visit Alice Springs amid rampant crime wavePrime Minister Anthony Albanese will travel to Alice Springs on Tuesday as some federal MPs call for the government to temporarily ditch its Voice to Parliament plans. He should be arriving unannounced. Watch the clean-up operation between now and Tuesday! Will do the same as what they did when the NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner visited, clean the streets up, hide the problem. Be a shame if he was kidnapped while there... 🤔

Why was he not there a week ago, oh, right had to wait for Bill Gates to visit and give instructions! Got it! He's only going because we the people have been calling for it for weeks The man is a puppet. A quick photo op for AlboMP , a selfie with some locals and out of there.
