The man behind Adelaide's iconic Vili's pies dies in Sydney following an unsuccessful lung transplant operation.

Vilmos Milisits was born in Hungary in 1948Mr Milisits, affectionately known as Vili, died in Sydney last night following an unsuccessful lung transplant operation.Vili left school aged 14 to work at a cake shop in Burnside, before starting his own venture on Manchester Street in Mile End, where the original Cafe de Vilis is now.

Both he and his wife Rosemaryof Unley Park, were awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2005 for their contribution to charity."What's the baker's version?Mr Milisits was a big supporter of the Norwood Football Club in the SANFL and"Vili and Rosemary have employed hundreds of South Australians and have generously given back to the community as proud supporters of charities, community sport and the arts," he said.
