Ms Andrews also declined to comment specifically on whether she would use her ministerial discretion to allow the family to return to their home in the regional Queensland town of Biloela, stating she would “wait and see” what the court rules.Vigils held across the country, three years after Biloela Tamil family were forcibly taken

Community detention is still detention right? Wire fences with the gate open 🤨

i have faith Karen will get them back to biloela

HometoBilo is where this family need to be and want to be. Though I'm sure the Christmas Island community will support them in the meantime.

Not good enough. Bring them home LNPCrimeFamily

Some day, some politicians will wake up to the fact that we all have only one go at this and all that time they spend keeping people locked up on principal is living time wasted that neither they or the incarcerated can get back. Perhaps then empathy and compassion will prevail.

Here’s hoping!!!

About bloody time

Trying to put a positive spin on a 💩 situation. Government should be returning them to hometobilo I feel an election coming on. karenandrewsmp

JaneCaro I’ll believe it when it happens.

I wonder if this is the best she can do at this stage with, I feel sure, Dutton breathing heavily down her neck.

We want them to be repatriated to their home in Biloela......what’s the Minister playing at ? Mean nasty punitive behaviour. HumanRightsViolations hometobilo

karenandrewsmp It has gone on long enough, release them back to Biloela where they are wanted and can contribute to the community. Shame on you and this, government.

They are our children ' they were born here , bring them home where they belong, and apologise and compensate them for the misery and mental torture the liberal national party have brought upon those little Aussies.

Their been used as political pawns.

JaneCaro Send them back to Bilo. now.

JaneCaro Hint...hint? Are we not paying her to make decisions. Surely this is a pretty simple thing to arrange, stamp a piece of paper, send an email, make a phone call? If it’s Minister discretion at work then use it or don’t, please dont hint at it, this is people’s lives!

Hopefully true ? maybe closer to the election, nothing to do with compassion, of course.

Big fuckin woop

deniseshrivell They should be returned to Biloela not just released into the community on Christmas Island

Hinted.🤔

JaneCaro NOT GOOD ENOUGH ! Bring them HOME !!

The delay is the LNP marketing department are just working out a strategy to make ScoMo the hero.

HelenErrington1 Article should read 'LNP continues to keep 2 innocent Australian girls, and their family, locked up.'

JaneCaro For crying out loud. Apart from the gratuitous cruelty, how much is their detention costing taxpayers? Just let them go hometoBilo!

JaneCaro Very telling in this situation that the article says the government has at this stage spent more than $6 million detaining the family, according to Senate Estimates, and the Biloela community continue to lobby for their return. Why continue the detention?

Just bringthemhome hometobilo

deniseshrivell Christmas Island is off Indonesia NOT Australia. This family should be released in Australia NOT Christmas Island. HometoBilo auspol

JaneCaro Not good enough karenandrewsmp Send this family HomeToBilo & grant them permanent resident status or, better yet, Australian citizenship (for what it’s worth 🤬)

They need to be deported. They were not granted protection for good reason. Nades held 'leadership positions' in a proscribed terrorist organisation. We should not be letting terrorists pretending to be refugees into the country.

Which part of illegal immigrants arnt you understanding

I'd feel better if Karen Andrews did more than just 'hint' over such a gross injustice HometoBilo

Sooner rather than later.

Community detention? Oh FFS just release them already.

The cynic in me says there has to be vested interests there ... whether as part of their continual election campaign or needing to clear the island for quarantine ... but don't expect any details and transparency let alone truths.

ASX climbs as US stocks hit fresh records on bad jobs dataThe Australian share market follows Wall Street higher following a boost from a negative US jobs report on Friday and surging commodity prices. Despite bad jobs data they can still receive unemployment(?) and can spend money mostly printed to chase after real goods, some that have reduced supply due to shutdowns. So yeah naturally prices are gonna go up on top of regular s/d effects last year and now. Anotehr thing Trump got wrong. And do listen to what Biden says....

Australia is a beacon of multiculturalism. How did it lose its humanity? In our time of crisis, when we were most exposed and circumstances demanded to see our real character, what did we do? We locked ourselves in and out, writes latikambourke in this opinion piece. ... latikambourke Shit govts and shit oppositions. Which was the last govt at state or federal level that governed in the interest of the people rather than self interest? latikambourke People trot out 'the lucky country' ideal, a fair go for all ect. Even worse they proclaim unfair happenings to be 'UnAustralian'. Actually, locking the gates its quintessentially Australian..all the way back to white Australia policy...time to revisit what Australia really is. latikambourke 'this country will not just give me a home but will never try to lock me out of it.' Tell that to the Windrush folks.
