Young Rabbitohs forward Cameron Murray has the quality to play State of Origin for NSW, says Blues coach Brad Fittler. 9News

Young Rabbitohs forward Cameron Murray has the quality to play State of Origin for NSW, says Blues coach Brad Fittler.

Murray, 21, was superb at lock for South Sydney as they registered a round one win over reigning premiers the Sydney Roosters at the SCG. While Fittler will be loathe to change his NSW team too much after winning last year's series, he was impressed by Murray on Friday night.Cameron Murray was outstanding in round one.

"Especially at the SCG, the Bulli soil in the middle - that is so slippery. Him, Damien Cook and Jake Friend were the only people that could keep their balance in the middle. "I thought South Sydney's tactics early were to spread the ball and just pretty much give it to Cameron Murray through the middle and see what he can do. His balance and speed, his play-the-ball's so quick, and he still has that awareness to chase kicks.""The big thing about it is he also got two errors out of the Roosters. He's a great defender, he gets up - like [Roosters star] Victor [Radley] - under the ball and always gets it loose.

Sentiment may seem clear but NSW is still the Coalition's to loseAnalysis: Sentiment may seem clear but NSW is still the Coalition's to lose l alexsmithsmh AlexSmithSMH Labor has won it. Landslide incoming AlexSmithSMH Remember in the previous ALP government treasurer Costa cancelling the Parramatta - Epping rail link? We hoped GladysB would be better. Instead we got a down grading Epping - Chatswood to an incompatible metro and a light rail Parra - Carlingford not even reaching Epping AlexSmithSMH ....so there can never be a rail link Chatswood - Parramatta which was designed to relieve the congested CBD - Strathfield rail line. Instead we get a West Metro which requires 450 K immigrants to be commercial. GladysB will enter history books for having stuffed it up for good
